CANBERRA ANTIQUE & CLASSIC MOTOR CLUB
PO BOX 3427, MANUKA ACT 2603
CACMC is one of the largest motoring heritage clubs in the ACT, and the only one which caters to owners of all marques and periods of historic vehicles.
Concessional registration is available in the ACT to historic vehicles (30 years or more old) that are owned by members of authorised motor clubs such as CACMC. The Concessional Registration Scheme is governed by an official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)between the ACT Government and the Council of ACT Motor Clubs. The full text of the MOU is available here. It explains the different roles and responsibilities of the owner, the Club, and the ACT Government in the registration process.
To obtain registration under the Concessional Registration Scheme:
- The owner must separately ensure that the vehicle satisfies ACT roadworthiness requirements for registration in the ACT. Clubs are not authorised to provide roadworthy certificates, which must be obtained independently by the owner.
- To claim Concessional Registration, initially and for each annual renewal, the owner must present evidence to Access Canberra that they are a financial member of the Club in the current year, and also present a certificate, issued by the Club, verifying that the vehicle has been inspected and found eligible for concessional registration by an authorised inspector representing the Club.
Membership of CACMC is open to anyone with an interest in heritage vehicles. It is not a prerequisite to own one. CACMC currently has over 300 memberships with more than 300 registered heritage vehicles and many more under restoration, aged from early veteran and vintage up to just over 30 years old.
Personal involvement in club activities is strongly encouraged. Meetings, runs and social events are held throughout the year. The purpose of the club is for members to share their knowledge and experience in the restoration, maintenance and enjoyment of our vehicles. .
Applying for Club Membership
Club Membership fees are $45 per financial year for a family membership and $40 per year for singles. These may be pro-rated depending on the time of the financial year. All memberships become due for renewal on 30 June each year. To this is added an initial joining fee of $40. The latter provides for a name tag and membership card and contributes towards the administrative costs of initial membership. You will also receive a copy of the club’s monthly magazine The Colonial by email. If you do not have email access, you can receive The Colonial by post. If you have email access but would prefer to receive a printed copy of The Colonial, there is an extra fee of $20 per year to offset the extra cost of printing and postage.
Please download the Membership Form, complete and sign it, and submit it
- in person, at a club meeting, together with the fees, or
- as an electronic document attached to an email, addressed to applications@cacmc.org.au, or
- on paper, posted to the the Post Office Box address indicated at the top of this page.
